Baby Sprinkles. The smaller version of a baby shower, usually reserved for a second baby, hence the “sprinkle” nickname. A relatively new celebration, sometimes met with a few raised eyebrows from older generations, we love the idea of taking a moment to celebrate a new life. It’s also a chance for the mama-to-be to slow down (because if it’s your second baby you are probably moving at 100 mph), focus on the new baby and enjoy some downtime with your closest friends and family.
When a few friends approached me about hosting one, I was thrilled. I knew exactly what I had in mind- all the fun but without the fuss! No decorations, no games, you get the idea. Instead, I dreamed about a casual brunch in a casual setting, and when my sister mentioned Hotel San Jose, it was a done deal in my book.
Set in the courtyard, surrounded by lush plants and with a view of the newly renovated pool, we pushed together a few tables in the back for food, dessert, and drinks. Each vendor knew the location well so they picked decor that complimented the backdrop. It was a dream!
Also a dream? Sharing pregnancy with 4 of my dearest friends!
The hostesses enlisted the help of Melody’s Joy, a dessert table designer, to pull it all together. With her impeccable attention to detail and keeping in line with hotel’s modern botanical aesthetic, Melody pulled in pieces with marble and wood accents complete with laser cut custom signage by Studio Noel. Desserts were provided by Sprinkles Cupcakes, including the cake! Cakes are a new addition for the Austin and Dallas locations and we couldn’t be more excited.
Sara Mulder of Bella By Sara, put together this incredible table runner made with equal parts succulents and wild greenery.
I also knew that I wanted to send each guest home with a small token of my appreciation for being so supportive throughout the years. We partnered with Esperos, one of my favorite local brands, and chose the Saddle Event Clutch. Guests were so excited to walk away with one! The Belly Basket by Chapter Goods was the perfect display. Effortless and casual, it was the best morning spent celebrating our sweet baby boy. All photography by Paige Newton.
