Ahhhh summer. Despite not loving the heat, I always find myself breathing a sigh of relief once summer rolls around. With few rules, more daylight, and the excuse to indulge in as many frozen drinks as you want, summer relaxes me. It’s also a time to simplify. Declutter the house, cook outside more, play outside more, reconnect with friends and simply take it easy. Words to live by as we begin the countdown to baby number two coming in August. For now, we focus on our Summer Bucket List. A favorite family tradition, we list everything we want to do (and think Bowie might enjoy doing) and keep it posted somewhere we can reference when we find ourselves asking, what should we do today? We’d love to know what’s on your family bucket list. Share below in the comments!
Stay cool with a snowcone from Sno-Beach.
Catch All Shook Up! at Zilker Theater in Zilker Park
Round Rock Express Game
We’re a baseball fam (our fourth date was to a Ranger’s world series game) so we’ll definitely be going to a Round Rock Express game this summer and sitting in the lawn so Bowie can run around.
Hyatt Lost Pines
Spend the day at Hyatt Lost Pines. They now offer day passes and we fully plan to take advantage of all the property has to offer (bicycles, lazy river, beach entrance, etc.)
Barton Springs/Deep Eddy
Take a dip in Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. Sure, it’s cold but it’s an Austin tradition and one that Bowie is already very familiar with, freezing temps and all.
Austin Zoo. We love the Austin Zoo for many reasons but mainly because it’s a rescue zoo meaning they assist animals in need through rescue, rehabilitation, and education. We’ll plan to hit up Jester King brewery afterwards.
We just finished a remodel at our house although you don’t need an excuse for a get together with friends. Summer is a great time to gather the friends or fam for a bbq or brunch.
We’ll stay up past bedtime one night to catch some music at Blues On The Green in Zilker Park. I’ve been going since 8th grade when it was at the Arboretum and this is definitely an Austin tradition I want to share with Bowie.
Plan A Picnic
Even if we have to wait until 7pm and push Bowie’s bedtime in order to avoid the heat, eating alfresco is always a good idea. It’s one last opportunity for Bowie to get his wiggles out and it rarely ever involves having to do dishes.
Finish Bowie’s Baby Book
One page a day. My summer goal.
Our original babymoon to Tulum was cancelled the first time around and between the remodel and moving back in, we’re out of time to fly anywhere. For the next 8 weeks, Michael and I are going to try and get in as many date nights and overnight trips as we can.
