We had no ideas, no inspiration, and no color palette in mind when it came to putting together a nursery. What we did know is that we wanted the room to be an extension of our house and a space that was calm, inviting and one that our son could grown up in. I joked that putting together this nursery was based on the old wedding wive’s tale, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. We took existing pieces of furniture from our house and made room for a few very special handmade pieces by my dad and brother. My mom also surprised us by refinishing the rocking chair she used with us when we were little.

In order to make this very neutral room special, we tried to fill it with pieces that were important to us, that would hopefully one day be important to Bowie. We hung a poster from a music festival we were at the weekend we found out we were pregnant, framed pictures of my pregnant belly and our maternity shoot, and filled the bookshelf my dad built with books from when I was little, some of my most prized possessions.

A few of my favorite new pieces were the mobile from my sister, the cowboy boots from some dear friends and the framed prints by the Animal Print Shop above his dresser.
